Below is a dictionary of 'unique' Vine Family terms.

Ch (usually 'Ch ch')

noun. Double quotation mark (i.e. ") (origin - on the Sinclair Spectrum computer system, to load a program from tape you had to type LOAD"". To say this out loud would be quite a mouthful without finding a shorter way of saying "Double quotation mark, double quotation mark", so it became "Load Ch Ch")

Clarty

adj. That feeling you get when your teeth are a bit furry, perhaps after eating rhubarb or scones.

Dobbegees

noun, pl. Carousel; merry-go-round; 'gallopers'

Gompy (offensive)

adj. Gormless, stupid.

noun. A gompy person, as in "look at gompy over there".

Jaffacake (noun, childish)

Poo, as in "Daddy's done a jaffacake!" (origin - from a childhood mis-hearing of "defecate")

Peepers (noun, plural)

The yellow-ish gummy blobs found in the corners of the eyes after sleep. (Often the second quoted meaning of 'sleep' in dictionaries)

Pish

noun. TV 'static' (etym - onomatopœic name for the white noise-type sound produced by the TV)

Puggle (alternatively Puggle Wuggle)

noun. Woodlouse

Tizz (verb, disputed usage)

To tizz a match. After a match has been extinguished, dipping its hot end in water to remove any residual heat, before throwing it in the bin. This makes a small noise, somewhat like 'tizz'. (Note - unrelated to the use of "tizz" as in a state of distress - to be "in a tizz").

Yaw-Yaw

verb. Cat Kneading

Zjuzj

verb. As in to zjuzj one's hair or to zjuzj along. Obviously. (Spelling disputed. It could be Dzjüjsh. But it isn't.)
